SDFD and other agencies on scene of a brush fire on MCAS Miramar property. The assessment is about 3 acres of brush with slow rate of spread in medium fuels. The wind is favorable and no structures are threatened. Two helicopters and many engines are on this incident.
2:52 p.m. - progress has been slowed. This fire is on MCAS Miramar property.
2:54 p.m. - all members of the Miramar crews are safe but one of their engines is out of service at the scene.
3:07 p.m. - about 5 acres now on MCAS Miramar property
3:23 p.m. - currently at ten acres. The progress has slowed. Still no structures threatened. One helicopter released.
5:41 p.m. - at about 5 p.m. a couple of crews are being released from the scene.
6:11 p.m. - fire is 100% contained. Miramar Fire crews will patrol all night to watch for flare ups. No injuries and no threat or damage to any structures.
Total assigned units include: 1 DivChief, 2 Brush Rigs, 6 Engines, 5 Admins, 1 Police Agency, 3 Helos, 1 Water Tender, and 4 Batt Chs. A total of 52 personnel have been assigned. A fire investigator has not been assigned.
